Looking for a local El Paso urologist? Rio Grande Urology’s newest urologist is now accepting patients!
Dr. Christopher Olivares recently joined the RGU team of physicians and is excited to be back in El Paso serving the community where he was raised.
“My goal from the beginning when going to med school was to come back and serve El Paso,” said Dr. Olivares. “Being a third-generation El Pasoan, it was a no-brainer for me to move back home. Growing up in El Paso molded me into the person I am and impacted me in a lot of ways. It’s my way to pay it forward.”
Skilled in treating a variety of urological issues
Dr. Olivares’ specialties include treating a range of urological issues such as kidney stones, erectile dysfunction, incontinence, and cancer, including kidney and testicular cancer. He is also skilled in minimally invasive surgery and working with emerging technology in the urological field to provide patients with the best possible care.
“The thing that attracted me to urology is that you’re dealing with sensitive issues on a regular basis; very private issues that really impact people’s lives,” he shared, speaking about the everyday activities that can be impacted by urological challenges, such as bladder control or sexual intimacy. “You have a unique impact on a person’s life that no one else can.”
He is thrilled to be working at RGU alongside its team of highly respected physicians. “It’s a really good environment for collaboration,” he said. “This enhances the client’s experience as well. All the resources are there and being shared by the team.”
Creating a safe, comfortable environment for patients
Dr. Olivares recognizes that talking about urological issues is a very personal thing, and can be difficult for some patients. He strives to create a safe, comfortable environment to help patients know they can trust him with their care. No one should have to suffer through urological pain or discomfort because they are uncomfortable talking about these issues.
“These patients often become your patients for life,” he said. “You build a relationship that you develop. I love to instill confidence in my patients, in the trust and confidentiality of that relationship.”
He hopes patients will recognize that they can find relief from the discomfort or pain of a urological issue, and it starts by talking with a trusted physician. In most cases in urology, there is usually a solution to a patient’s pain and illness, and Dr. Olivares thrives in helping patients get the treatment they need so they can get back to their daily activities.
